Come watch the Ice Princess perform her artistry on ice Friday, Feb. 5 from 5-9 in the Triangle.

Laura Wetzel, 23, is a USFSA Triple Gold Medalist in Freeskating, Ice Dance, and Moves-In-The-Field.  Most recently, Laura has competed at the 2009 South Atlantic Regional Competition. Laura was an alternate at the 2005 U.S. Eastern Sectional Championships and was a competitor at the 2002 and 2003 U.S. Junior National Figure Skating Championships in Ice Dancing.  Laura has been skating competitively for 15 years and has competed at nine Regional competitions. In May 2009, she graduated from DeSales University and is currently pursuing another Bachelor's degree in nursing.  In her spare time, she enjoys coaching young skaters at the Steel Ice Center in Bethlehem.



Hannah Violet is a musician and singer-songwriter with a combined sound of southern rock/folk/country with her own acoustic soul. Hannah is a Music Therapist for Heartland Hospice in Reading. She performs her own music acoustically and is a part of the country/rock band Jeremiah James and the Tandem Band where she plays fiddle, guitar, and sings. This year Hannah will be releasing both her music video "Violet Sky" which was shot in Las Vegas and her brand new cd made up of over 13 original songs.  To learn more about Hannah Violet, her music and live performances, check out her website at www.hannahviolet.com.

From March of 1993 to the December of 2000, Mark held positions as an assistant kitchen manager, executive chef, restaurant manager, food and beverage director, and college instructor.  Introduced to the art of ice carving though his culinary training, he began carving again in 1995 while working at an area banquet center.  Mark is a member of the National Ice Carving Association, and has been the owner and lead carver for Sculpted Ice Works, which has been a full-time venture since 2001. 

 

Janice Stavrou will demonstrate the art of open hearth cooking on Sat., Feb. 13 from 12- 4 P.M.  She'll be making apple fritters and apple sauce, and will welcome the help of children in peeling and coring apples the old fashioned way. Janice credits her girl scout leader with fostering her love of open hearth cooking, as her first experience included dinner cooked in the fireplace of a rustic cabin.  Janice has taught outdoor cooking for the Great Valley Girl Scout Council, and Pennsylvania German open hearth cooking for the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council.
The 1803 House will also be selling homemade soup warming over the open hearth at that time.

Joel Shimer

Joel Shimer, 11, is a fifth grade student at Lincoln Elementary School.  From a very young age, Joel demonstrated a love of music.  At age 4, he performed for the first time singing a duet with his father in their church, Faith Presbyterian.  Joel is currently studying bass guitar with Stephen Andrusysyhn of Emmaus Lesson Center, and upright bass with Lori Cooke at Lincoln School.  He is a self-taught guitarist as well.  Joel enjoys performing in the annual talent show at Lincoln, and has even penned a few original songs of his own.  He resides in Emmaus with his parents, Chas and Melanie Shimer.

Jacinda Arzuaga

Join ten year old chanteuse, Jacinda Arzuaga, as she opens the 2010  SnowBlast  Winter Festival with her rendition of “Winter Wonderland” on the Triangle Friday, Feb. 5 at 5 P.M. Jacinda is a 5th grade student at Alburtis Elementary school.  She’s had a love for singing since age 5.  She currently studies voice at the Metropolitan Music Academy.  She was the soloist selected for the Alburtis Elementary Winter  Festival and will perform at the 5th grade talent show this spring.  Jacinda loves to write and spend time with her brother and sister.

Barry Rivera

Why is the Rabbit's tail so short?  Why is the Hermit Thrush such a shy little bird? For many years, American Indians taught lessons of morals in the form of fun stories to their children.  Barry Rivera, Youth Programs Coordinator from the Museum of Indian Culture in Allentown, PA will delight children of all ages with a  one-half hour of storytelling.

  Author Corinne Durdock delights audiences with a reading of her second historical children's fictional book. Discovering the Shelter House-Toby's Tale. Toby, a resident cat at the Shelter House, tells the story of his ancestor Herr Toby, and his encounter with a young Pennsylvania German boy named Johann during the late 1700's. Book signing follows. Saturday 1 P.M.
  Out of Hand Entertainment is a blend of the top young variety artists in the country today, bringing a fresh version of vaudeville full-force into the modern age. Combining magic, juggling, and other stunts, the members deliver performances packed with a new kind of intensity in demonstrations of mind-blowing effects, technical skill and comedy. An eclectic mesh of talents, Out of Hand lives up to its name with knives fling, performers appearing impossible on stage, and doves materializing out of nowhere, all during highly interactive shows that leave the audience amazed, mystified, and laughing. Out of Hand is pure entertainment.  OHE performs Friday, 7-8 at the triangle. 
joe scholz Joe Scholz combines a smooth and artistic style of juggling with a high difficulty level to entertain every audience. He draws on training and insight from professionals from around the world to deliver a cutting edge performance.
out of hand Nathan Kepner has been performing magic for over a decade. He gained international recognition at the age of 17 by winning the World Magic Seminar's Teen Stage Contest. His magic has taken him across the country, giving him the opportunity to perform for packed theaters from Miami to Las Vegas.

The notorious Martha Vines is the Children's Librarian at the Emmaus Public Library.  She knows where lots of snow books are hidden and plans to share them at the "fireside" story times at 2 P.M. and 3 P.M. on Saturday.  Mrs. Vines knows that libraries are fun places to be!  Joining her for the 3 P.M. story time are some girl scouts who also know that the library is a COOL place to be!
